What is an Alexander lesson?
The teacher uses gentle hands-on touch and verbal information to guide the student through simple activities like standing, sitting, talking and walking. Part of a lesson typically involves the student lying on a table while the teacher, using verbal cues and gentle movements of the head and limbs, teaches the student to practice awareness and release of where tension is being held. The Alexander Technique is usually taught through a series of one-on-one private lessons. Because the goal is to uncover long-held unconscious habits and patterns of tension, a beginning course of 30 lessons is recommended. A lesson is 40-45 minutes and is $50.
